Lutheran Worship: Fundamentals

Deepen your understanding of Lutheran worship through an exploration of why we do what we do, Biblical sources of our liturgy, and best practices for leading and assisting with worship in your congregation. Throughout the course, you will learn to use and adapt tools such as Sundays and Seasons for Sunday preparation, covering the order of worship (Gathering, Word, Meal, Sending) and the liturgical year. The course also examines various worship settings and seasonal themes.

Rev. Andrew Lewis

Rev. Andrew Lewis is Pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in McDonough, Georgia, and a Chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserve. He holds a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, with an emphasis in Liturgical Development and Praxis, and a Master of Sacred Theology in Lutheran Theology and Liturgical History from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. His graduate thesis explored Lutheran eucharistic practice and liturgical development, reflecting a deep commitment to understanding why the church worships as it does. With nearly a decade of pastoral experience leading congregations in Georgia and Minnesota, Pr. Andrew brings both scholarly grounding and practical wisdom to the study of Lutheran worship, liturgy, and the rhythms of the church year. Outside of ministry, he is an avid trail runner with a love for the outdoors.
